What is JLA?

JLA stands for Junior Leadership Academy. JLA is in its 14th year as a program (hooray!) for kids from all over the White Mountains, including Whiteriver, Pinetop-Lakeside, and Snowflake-Taylor. There are 25 – 30 kids in each program.

The JLA Program is currently available and funded by the Snowflake and Blue Ridge School Districts.

This program helps kids from all over the mountain learn about how to be an integral part of their community through servicefun activities that promote teamwork, and leadership. JLA was selected as one of the top three out-of-school programs in Arizona (2014) by the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence and creates memories for kids that they will truly never forget.

β€œJLA: Its instigation and development is the epitome of teacher creativity and care. These exceptional professionals, initially and continually, impact the lives of our youth. From a local focus, JLA has been recognized as an award winner and responds to inquiries to replicate in additional communities. Credit is due to our dedicated teachers and communities.”
